- the girl - a few moments: autobots first showing up, a couple of the scenes where they are mobilizing to go kick ass, etc. - anthony anderson - the girl - when the dad fist-bumps the kid when he discovers the girl in his room. - the first scene, with the middle east ambush, was pretty badass. - the girl
Bad:
- no story whatsoever - in the fight scenes, it was impossible to tell what was going on. I couldn't tell if the good guys or bad guys were winning - no character development. I didn't feel happy or sad about anything. - they didn't let the lead actor (Shia LeBoef from Even Stevens, the greatest show ever on the Disney Channel) do anything interesting/funny. He was boring. - too many clothes on the girl. - the jon voight/hacker stuff was unnecessary and pretty pointless. - final fight scene lasted forever. I was totally bored by the end. - finally, NO TRANSFORMERS THEME SONG??? major oversight.
1) the fact that you didn't list John Turturro under your "good" column leads me to believe you didn't watch the same movie I did
2) the hacker angle absolutely added to the movie - it allowed Michael Bay to introduce a second hot girl. i'm imagining a scenario where Michael Bay "auditioned" both girls for the lead part and promised the Aussie a role in the the heat of the "audition". he probably had to go back and re-write the script to include that superfluous storyline just to get her in the movie
BTW, "I respectfully disagree" is one of the most condescending phrases in the English language. No one is ever respectful in their disagreement, especially when disagreeing over a work of art like a film.
I'm not claiming that it's the best movie I've seen this year, or even close. I actually enjoyed Die Hard a bit more. I liked Transformers for what it was - a summer popcorn movie. I often don't judge movies objectively, rather I judge them based on my expectations going into the theater. My expectations for a Michael Bay adaptation of an '80s cartoon/30-minute toy commercial were low.

Overall grade: B/B-

Nice use of the phrase.
OK, I don't respectfully disagree. I decree that you are just plain wrong.
1. Turturro was ok, not great. Certainly not on par with his depiction of J. Quintana.
2. Second hot girl may or may not have been hot -- they really didn't do much to showcase her (like they did with the first hot girl).
I mean, would you waste your time to watch it again?
