BlockBuster Total Access/NetFlix Queue

Here's what my Blockbuster Total Access queue is looking like these days. Creating a movie queue kind of feels like making a mix-tape in junior high (for a dissertation on making mix-tapes read "High Fidelity" by Nick Hornby). Like the mix-tape, the movie queue is all about sequence. As far as I can tell, the 2 prime directives are 1) don't put "heavy" movies or dockumentaries back-to-back; and 2) don't group too many new releases together or you're in danger of running out and then you'll be left with nothing but classics that you've already seen. I'm bending the second rule a bit b/c this is my first month on the plan.

  1. Shaun of the Dead
  2. Rocky Balboa [WS]
  3. Machinist
  4. Eragon [WS]
  5. Last King of Scotland
  6. Flags of Our Fathers
  7. Children of Men
  8. Adaptation
  9. Brazil
  10. Father Ted: Series 1
  11. Break-Up
  12. Bourne Supremacy
  13. Who the !@#$ is Jackson Pollock?
  14. Run Lola Run
  15. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  16. Hostage
  17. World Trade Center
  18. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
  19. Bobby
  20. Volver

I can't say I agree with thinking here. Since I copy more movies than I watch, my queue looks like someone who trying to complete a collection. Which is probably the case.

Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home
Star Trek V - Final Frontier
Star Trek VI - Undicovered Country
Star Trek Generations
Star Trek First Contact
Star Trek Insurrection
Star Trek Nemisis
Summer of Sam
Year of the Dragon
The Jerk
Halloween
Halloween 2

So ... my queue has a bit over 350 movies in it. To be fair, that number is padded by a fair amount of multi-disk tv series (deadwood, the wire, sledgehammer, etc.), but still, I'm clearing well over 250 movies. Here's my first twenty up:

1. The Departed
2. Jesus Camp
3. No Way Out
4. The Incredibles
5. Zack Galafianakis Live
6. The Pink Panther
7. Jarhead
8. The World According to Garp
9. When We Were Kings
10. The Producers
11. Letters From Iwo Jima
12. Deadwood Season 1, Disc 2
13. The Squid and the Whale
14. Volver
15. Casino Royale
16. Little Children
17. One Day in September
18. Do the Right Thing
19. Meatballs
20. The Queen

So you're the reason "Children of Men" isn't listed as immediately "Available" on my queue. Dammit! Watch the movie and send it back so I can get it!

Wait, Dave, do you have Netflix or Blockbuster? If you had Netflix, Children of Men would be available...

A-nonymous, Dug isn't the Doug you know. But he is a dork.

BT, actually my subscription is at blockbuster. Why are you shilling for Netflix?

Just watched "Shaun of the Dead" and I'm on a Simon Pegg kick. I highly recommend his sit-com, "Spaced", which you can check out at dailymotion.com
